Workflow card WC-02.1: Rewrite a bad prompt as a six-part brief
From AI for Real Estate Agents (2026 Edition). Facts in, draft out, licensee signs.

Time: estimate: about 10 minutes

Trigger. A request you typed into the assistant came back generic, wrong, or not in your voice, and you want to rebuild it so it works next time instead of trying different words.

Inputs.

- The original prompt, copied exactly from your chat history
- The facts you actually have for this task (listing sheet, your notes, public record), with "never paste" items stripped (T-04.4)
- Who will read the output and what they already know
- Your voice file (Chapter 3), or three short samples of your own writing
- Your license disclosure line and any length limit, if they apply

Brief. (paste everything between the lines)

------------------------------------------------------------
Role: You are helping a licensed residential real estate agent turn a short prompt into a complete brief. You use only facts I give you. If you need a fact I have not given, ask instead of guessing. Do not write the final output yet; write the brief that would produce it.
Facts: Here is the prompt that failed: [paste original prompt]. Here is what I actually have for this task: [paste facts, notes, or documents, with sensitive values replaced by placeholders].
Audience: Me. I will paste the brief you write into a new conversation to get the real output.
Voice: Plain. Label each part of the brief. No commentary on why the original prompt was weak.
Rules: Use only facts I give you; ask instead of guessing. The brief you write must have six labeled parts in this order: Role, Facts, Audience, Voice, Rules, Format. Its Rules part must include: use only facts I give you; ask instead of guessing; no language about who should live here or who the neighbors are; no claims about views, condition, or square footage beyond the facts; and, where the output is first-contact material, include "[license disclosure line]" exactly. Its Format part must end with: "After the output, list every fact you used and which input it came from." Put every fact I gave you into the Facts part word for word, with any qualifier I used ("per seller," "not verified") kept.
Format: Two sections. (1) The brief, six labeled parts, ready to paste. (2) A numbered list of at most five questions whose answers would most improve the brief, each with one line on why it matters. After the output, list every fact you used and which input it came from.
------------------------------------------------------------

Check.

- Read the Facts part of the new brief against your inputs. Anything added, upgraded ("per seller" dropped, "updated" become "remodeled"), or missing gets fixed by hand.
- Confirm the Rules part contains all four standing rules and your disclosure line placeholder.
- Answer the five questions. Put the answers into the Facts or Rules part before you run the brief.
- Run the brief in a fresh conversation and compare the result with the original output. If it still misses, add to Facts or Audience; do not reword.

Ship. The brief goes into a new conversation to produce the real output. Save the old output and the new output side by side in your working folder for this chapter's Your Turn. Strip the facts and save the brief to your library under the T-02.2 naming rule, for example "Listing copy, 1 format, v1."

Compliance check. Ch. 4.1 (steering language), 4.3 (license disclosure on first-contact material), 4.5 (privacy and client data). Strip the "never paste" items before the original prompt and facts go in; a failed prompt from your history may contain a client name or an address.
